The company

alcedo biotech GmbH was founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the Centre for Human Genetics of the University of Bremen, which is headed by Prof. Dr. J. Bullerdiek. The initial founder of alcedo biotech was Prof. Dr. J. Bullerdiek.

alcedo biotech will transfer functional genomics to novel therapeutical concepts. A primary focus are embryonic genes and proteins which are causally involved in a variety of diseases as for example benign and malignant tumors, artheriosclerosis and restenosis, obesity, endometriosis, and wound healing disorders. Thus, working on new concepts for up- and downregulation of these genes and proteins will result in new and more powerful therapeutics.

As a company whose intellectual property is protected by granted patents as well as patent applications, alcedo biotech has initiated strategic alliances to other biotech companies and institutions providing new strategies to address these targets.

After finishing the preclinical and/or clinical phases I and II alcedo biotech will outlicence validated targets to the pharmaceutical industry or mature second-stage biotech companies.
